Location: Texas or Western USA, region to be determined (initial training to take place in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada)
Note: Must be able and willing to travel within USA, Canada and Overseas
Welding Engineer / Welding Technologist
Reporting to Operations Manager, the Welding Engineer/Technologist acts as a technical resource both internally and externally throughout the duration of Robotic Welding System projects, from sales to aftermarket support. The Welding Engineer/Technologist is a highly technical expert in welding & cutting processes and must fully understand and be able to apply that knowledge for robotic welding applications.
The ideal candidate is highly rigorous and methodical. He/She is comfortable working in both office and shop environments, versatile and able to work in close collaboration with other departments like Controls & Automation, Mechanical design, Fabrication and Sales. Tasks can vary greatly and require good computer skills, programming and time management in a customer service-oriented business.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Support Robotic welding cell assembly, setup and commissioning for customers throughout North America
- Provide on-site training and technical assistance to customers
- Perform remote technical assistance & troubleshooting
- Program Fanuc robotic cells for customer applications using standardized methods
- Perform weld tests, develop and optimize welding procedures using commonly used and new/advanced processes
- Rigorously document weld tests and write technical reports
- Provide support to Sales department (reach analysis, cycle time analysis)
- Prepare and perform product demonstrations for potential customers
Skills & Qualifications:
- Welding Engineering Degree or Welding Engineering Technology diploma
- Practical welding experience (GMAW, FCAW, TIG)
- Excellent knowledge of welding & Cutting Processes, welding equipment
- Strong interests in robotics and automation
- Ability to coach and train others
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office suite and offline programming software)
- Willingness to travel and work at customer facilities (30-50% of the time)

- 40 hours per week
